During certain seasons we combine the sheep and cows into a flerd. The sheep prefer the woody thorn tree sprouts and broadleaf forbs (weeds) while the cows prefer the lush grass and clover. Running as a combined herd they do a great job of harvesting all the forage on offer and resetting it so it can rest properly and fully recover without either the "weeds" or the grass becoming completely dominant. This helps to speed the rate of ecological healing in the land and also eliminates the need for chemical herbide (which we don't use).
