On the farm, we have a large creek that joins the farm for about a ½ mile. It’s a beautiful area, with a gentle current, birds singing and bountiful wildlife. Because sheep won’t ford or stand in water we often graze the area with them several times a year to harvest the forage and brush and keep the area open.
This strengthens the banks of the stream and helps prevent erosion, provides great forage for the sheep, and keeps down the underbrush so we can enjoy it as a family after a long day of work on the farm :)
